I went to Paderborn on 2 May 1969. We moved to Iserlohn in 1970 (I have a feeling we moved into the Barracks which were occupied by the Canadians). Northern Ireland with 5th Sqd.  24.3.1971 - 5.8.1971 (stationed at Gosford Castle). Transferred to 62 (NE) Squadron in Cyprus 19.4.1972.

HI TO ALL EX 5 FIELD MEMBERS AND ANYONE WHO WILL REMEMBER ME IN PARTICULAR.
My name is David Poole, I was known as mucky poole (worked in vehicle workshops) in Paderborn 1962 till 1965/6 when I was then badly injured in an rta. Moved from a german hosptal to BMH Rinteln where I was basically saved. Eventually cas e vacked back to blighty to the Royal Herbert Hosp in Woolwich, then later a long time at rehabilitation in Chester. I would love to hear from any of the lads that knew me, and want to hear more from anybody about reunians, etc. I am happy to say that once the army decided I couldnt remain except if I stayed in the uk (no chance all b. s---! I went on to marry and now retired dote on my grandkids, I am still prone to the odd one over the eight though!! I was so lucky, those that know me will know that my friend Ben Lean who was REME didnt make it. Please contact me at d-poole@talktalk.net I wait with baited breath

  10. Hi Just found the site, I was at 5 sqn from Easter 1976 to Sept 1980 did Northern Ireland, Canada and queens jubilee was with Darkie Derrick, John Grant Buzz Burrows Ray Mayall who I still see regularly, still in touch with Brian Seavers have been to a few reunions organised by Roy Griffin but not for a few years now, must have dropped me from his mailing list, I can only see 1 name I remeber from when I first arrived is Clive Pleger, hope you remeber me Clive and trust you are well, after NI I was lucky enough to get posted to the sailng club at Mohne See and became too civilianised after 2 years long hair calling officers by first names (even colonels) couldnt go back to beeing a squaddie so got out-Mike Williams

  11. Stumbled across here while looking for something else, I served with 5 Sqn from 87-89 had an excellent time there and next to Chep was the best posting I had. Was a Planty with Ted Vass as full screw and Dave Sergeant and Spud Taylor plus a few others.

I drove the Stally's and actually managed to get one bogged in on Soltau when it was loaded with POL.
